Binghamton of AHL rewards boy who cleared players' cars after snowstorm

Landon Vest turned a household chore into the experience of a lifetime.

The 8-year-old, Binghamton, New York native received the VIP treatment for the Binghamton Devils game Friday after he cleaned snow off each player's car during a recent road trip.

Landon likes to help his dad Jared shovel after snow storms in Central New York, and the Vests are also big Devils fans who attend about 10 games per season and watch many others on AHLTV.
They were watching the Devils road game at Cleveland on Feb. 9, and sprung to action when Binghamton broadcaster Rob Lippolis mentioned that the player's cars were snowed under during the broadcast.

"It really didn't take much convincing at all," Landon's dad Jared told NHL.com. "He wasn't taking no for an answer, so we grabbed some brooms and some snow brushes and took care of them."
"The Devils are my favorite team," Landon told NHL.com. "I wanted to help them after the long trip."
Lippolis helped Binghamton find Landon then the Devils made the boy feel like a member of the team for its home game against Hershey. Aside from attending the game with his dad, mom Jessica and twin brother Derek, Landon sat on the bench during warmups, received an autographed stick and jersey, announced the starting lineup and rode on the Zamboni during Binghamton's 4-3 win.
"It was really awesome," Landon said.
Jared said he was proud of Landon and also excited to see his good deed get rewarded.
"It's really cool," Jared said. "We really stress trying to be kind and helpful and for him to take that initiative to help out the players really makes us proud. For the team to recognize him for that is such a job well done; it's really a great thing."
