Maple Leafs Recall Sparks on Emergency Basis

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Sunday that the hockey club has recalled goaltender Garret Sparks from the Toronto Marlies (AHL) on an emergency basis.

Sparks, 23, has appeared in 29 regular season games (20-8-0) with the Toronto Marlies this season, posting the league's third best goals against average (2.07) and third best save percentage (0.926). The Elmhurst, Illinois native was originally drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the seventh round (190th overall) during the 2011 NHL Draft.
The Maple Leafs conclude their regular season schedule tonight with a 6 p.m. game at Air Canada Centre against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
