TAMPA BAY - The Tampa Bay Lightning will host Pride Night on Thursday, February 23 when they take on the Calgary Flames at AMALIE Arena at 7:30 p.m.
The night will include LGBTQ messaging on LightningVision throughout the game, including a PSA from Bolts You Can Play representative Brian Boyle. The game's Community Hero honoree will also be tied to the LGBTQ community and will benefit Equality Florida. Groups from Equality Florida, Diversity Tampa Bay and Balance Tampa Bay will be recognized in-arena and proceeds from the game's 50/50 drawing, presented by Moffitt Cancer Center, will benefit local LGBTQ charities.
Players for both the Lightning and Flames will be using rainbow-colored stick tape in spirit of the evening. A select number of sticks used will be auctioned off behind section 120 during the game, while the rest can be bid on starting the following morning through March 3 at auctions.nhl.com with proceeds benefiting the You Can Play Project (http://www.youcanplayproject.org/). In addition, broadcasters, coaches and staff will be wearing You Can Play lapel pins. ThunderBug and the Bolt Brigade will also be donning Pride Night items. The game's social captain will be WWE superstar Darren Young.
Tickets for Pride Night start as low as $32 and also include a t-shirt as well as a pre-game networking event. To order fans can log on to www.TampaBayLightning.com/Pride.
Pride Night T-shirts will also be for sale, while supplies last, at Tampa Bay Sports, powered by Reebok, courtesy of Florida Blue. A portion of proceeds from all shirts purchased will be donated to Community Tampa Bay, with the number being generously matched by Florida Blue.
