Tampa Bay Lightning, Lightning Foundation unveil 2026-27 Local Artist Collaboration class

TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Lightning and the Lightning Foundation today unveiled the 2026-27 class for the Local Artist Collaboration, a program aimed at strengthening “Hockey Is For Everyone” initiatives through the work of talented, local artists from various backgrounds and communities across the Tampa Bay region.

Blending art with the spirit of hockey, the program incorporates the work of local artists into the team’s logo on custom specialty jerseys to celebrate numerous initiatives throughout the 2026-27 season, including Noche Latina, Pride, Hockey Talks, Black Heritage and Women in Sports. The designs will also be utilized to create additional items, such as merchandise, apparel and in-arena elements that will be displayed throughout the selected theme night.

Through this program, local artists will be provided with an avenue to showcase designs that reflect their cultural heritage and personal experiences while cultivating an environment of inclusivity for everyone in the hockey community, both on and off the ice.

Noche Latina (October 15 vs. Seattle Kraken, 7:00 p.m.)

Originally from Guatemala and now based in Tampa, Carlos Pons brings over 15 years of creative expertise spanning canvas paintings, large-scale public murals and modern digital illustrations. His celebrated artistic style features a captivating fusion of vibrant colors, dynamic geometric patterns and rich cultural elements that masterfully balance modern energy with fine-art sensibility. By blending bold storytelling with a refined aesthetic, Pons’ work is perfectly suited to encapsulate the rhythm, passion and soulful essence of Noche Latina.

Pride, presented by Open Water (January 14 vs. Vegas Golden Knights, 7:00 p.m.)

An award-winning Puerto Rican artist, Selena Ferrer has earned widespread recognition for her striking, surrealist paintings and large-scale scenic art. Ferrer’s signature style focuses on creating immersive experiences that build deep personal connections and leave a lasting emotional impact. By blending powerful storytelling with fantastical visions, her work is perfectly suited to bring a meaningful and memorable perspective to this Pride Night.

Hockey Talks (January 26 vs. Los Angeles Kings, 7:00 p.m.)

Fueled by vibrant Florida vibes, Brian Kostar’s celebrated style translates illustrative surrealism into striking pieces defined by bold linework, vivid colors and a whimsical touch of humor. Grounded in an appreciation for shared human connection, Kostar’s work embraces a joyful philosophy of living fully and leaving behind a meaningful story. His energetic and deeply connecting artistic voice brings an inspiring, memorable perspective to Hockey Talks Night.

Black Heritage (February 28 vs. Utah Mammoth, 7:00 p.m.)

Quinn Cale’s deeply meaningful artistic style is grounded in a powerful dedication to history, resilience and community storytelling. Inspired by a rich family legacy and deep cultural roots, Cale’s work masterfully blends traditional cultural emblems with a contemporary artistic voice. By weaving personal memory and ancestral honor into modern spaces, Cale creates impactful visuals that celebrate leadership, community support and the strength to overcome challenges.

Women in Sports, presented by Raymond James (March 30 vs. Toronto Maple Leafs, 7:00 p.m.)

As a prominent Tampa visual artist, Michelle Sawyer’s signature style centers heavily on elevating women's voices and telling the stories of women who lead and succeed in the face of adversity. Her work uses artistic expression to expand the dialogue around gender equality, turning challenges into narratives of resilience and triumph. Sawyer brings a masterful perspective that beautifully celebrates the strength, unity and enduring legacy of women in sports and beyond.
