The Tampa Bay Lightning Bolts & Blue Faceoff Against Hunger, presented by Florida Blue, provided 200 families with nutritious food, meal prep education, health services and more. The event, held on Sept. 13 at Trinity Café with Feeding Tampa Bay, helped address the food insecurity issue facing the local community with an innovative approach.
Florida Blue's Chef DeJuan Roy hosted food demonstrations featuring recipes from the Bolts Blue Flame cookbook. The event also featured SNAP outreach, no-cost flu shots and health screenings. Families enjoyed games and face painting and received a take-home meal kit provided by Chef Ami and a Bolts Blue Flame cookbook.
Lightning community hockey was in attendance as well as 2004 Stanley Cup captain Dave Andreychuk, former Lightning All-Star Brian Bradley, Thunderbug, Lightning staff, Florida Blue Market president David Pizzo, Feeding Tampa Bay employees and Florida Blue representatives.
