KEYS TO THE GAME
Goaltending matchup: Both Washington and Vegas have strong netminders in the crease. Washington's Darcy Kuemper has started the season with a 2.39 GAA and .922 save percentage. Charlie Lindgren has a 3.09 GAA with a .925 save percentage. For the Golden Knights, Logan Thompson has a .169 GAA and a .943 save percentage. Adin Hill holds a 1.72 GAA with a .940 save percentage. Vegas does have the goaltending edge, but it will be a battle on both sides to get past whichever goalie is in the crease.
Health advantage: The Capitals have significant injuries to their team. They are playing without T.J. Oshie, John Carlson, Carl Hagelin, Tom Wilson, and Nicklas Backstrom. The Golden Knights are healthier than their opponent and it can give them the edge in this matchup.
