Marc-Andre Fleury will compete in the NHL All-Star weekend for the fourth time in his career starting with the 2019 SAP NHL All-Star Skills Competition at 6 p.m. PT Friday.
In last year's All-Star Skills Competition, Fleury competed in the inaugural Save Streak event where goaltenders took successive breakaways from the All-Star shooters and had to string together as many consecutive saves as possible. Before Fleury, Pekka Rinne from the Nashville Predators made 13 saves in a row to set the benchmark.
Fleury entered the net and stared down the All-Stars from the Atlantic Division. First, Jack Eichel was turned aside as he tried to beat Fleury at the right post. Next, Aleksandr Barkov reduced Fleury's total back to zero with a slick move to his forehand.

Brayden Point was the next shooter and Fleury used some flare to make a sprawling glove save while spinning on his back. He got right back up and stood in to face Mike Green whose shot hit the crossbar, triggering Fleury to thank the iron for the help. Auston Matthews tried an off-speed shot that Fleury sealed off as his streak his three saves.
Finding his rhythm, the Vegas goaltender stopped Brad Marchand and Erik Karlsson before Nikita Kucherov moved in to shoot. Kucherov pulled Fleury to one side of the net, slid the puck to the other, but squarely hit the post as Fleury's streak reached six. The next shooter, Steven Stamkos, also found iron and Fleury carried a stretch of seven saves into the second wave of shooters.
This time, Eichel shifted to the backhand but put his shot right into Fleury. Barkov looked to score again, but Fleury sealed the five-hole to keep the puck out. Point's next bid hit the knob of Fleury's stick, Green's backhand attempt was shut down and Matthews' second off-speed shot was heaved aside by Fleury as he hit 12 saves in a row. Fleury brought out the poke-check against Brad Marchand to tie Rinne's mark of 13 saves and Karlsson missed the net on the next shot to give Fleury a 14-save streak.
The next day, Fleury and Calgary goalie Mike Smith split the net to help the Pacific Division win the 3-on-3 tournament. They earned a 5-2 victory against the Central Division in the semifinal to reach the finale against the Atlantic Division. Fleury and Smith once again held their opponents to two goals as the Pacific won the tournament with a 5-2 win.
Fleury will show his skills in the 2019 SAP NHL Skills Competition at 6 p.m. PT before the 2019 NHL All-Star Game at 5 p.m. PT Saturday.
