We Are Hockeytown

We Are Hockeytown is a community-first brand platform celebrating the cultures and traditions that make Detroit hockey unique. Through a series of themed games and storytelling, we are showcasing the fans and neighborhoods that define Hockeytown.

Get to know the local artists behind our We Are Hockeytown Nights below and score exclusive, limited-edition gear throughout the season:

  • Game Day Pucks: Purchase exclusive artist-designed pucks on special theme nights, available only in the Team Store.

  • Commemorative Tickets: Claim your digital commemorative ticket for each theme night online.

  • Custom Goalie Masks: Each artist is designing a custom goalie mask, revealed live at Portal 50 on their respective game day.

At the end of the season, every custom goalie mask will be auctioned off, with 75% of net revenue benefiting charities chosen by the artists. Sign up below to be notified as soon as the auction goes live!

Meet the Artists

Dr. Taisel Losada-Bekou

Meet Clinical Psychologist, Division Head of Psycho-Oncology at Henry Ford Health. Dr. Taisel Losada-Bekou is a Peruvian-American artist and the Division Head of Psych-Oncology at Henry Ford Health. A lifelong creative who sold custom paintings in college, she has recently rekindled her artistic practice to share with her daughter. Her vibrant work is fueled by her cultural heritage and the relentless creative energy of Detroit—the city where she raises her family and fulfills her calling to care for cancer patients. Her latest piece celebrates Detroit’s rich culture, community strength, and the local love for hockey.

Dan

The Red Wings collaborated with a local artist to frame Detroit’s iconic Winged Wheel with a vibrant Pride palette, celebrating the idea that hockey is for everyone. Featuring fluid, overlapping shapes that echo both the movement of hockey and the Pride spectrum, the design symbolizes unity, showing that when the Hockeytown and Pride communities unite, they create something stronger, more dynamic, and truly memorable.

SW Freddy

Meet Freddy Diaz, an internationally recognized artist and first-generation Detroit native who transitioned from a 2005 graffiti background into a versatile career spanning murals, canvas, sculpture, and apparel. Driven by his roots in Southwest Detroit, he built his platform, SW Freddy, to give back to his community while bridging the gap between street art, gallery culture, and major corporations.
