SECURITY POLICIES

Nationwide Arena has implemented a number of policies to ensure a safe, enjoyable event experience for all guests.

If guests need help of any kind during a game, they are encouraged to visit TellNWA.com for real-time assistance. Event Services Supervisors will monitor continuously and will dispatch assistance accordingly.

Vending, peddling, product sampling, and flyering are prohibited.

Nationwide Arena cannot safeguard personal belongings.

NHL Game Search Procedures & Conduct

No backpacks, oversized bags, duffel bags, luggage, coolers, computers, or camera bags allowed with exceptions made for guests that require a larger bag for medical or childcare needs. All bags will be subject to inspection.

In addition to all normal building search procedures and prohibited items, all guests coming to Columbus Blue Jackets games will be asked to comply with NHL security requirements including asking all guests to remove their hats, empty all metal from their pockets and present to security, and enter through a metal detector. If anyone refuses these search procedures, they may be denied entry into the venue.

All fans are also required to follow the NHL Fan Code of Conduct. Anyone failing to comply with the NHL Fan Code of Conduct can be denied access and/or removed from the venue.

For the safety and comfort of guests, staff, and artists the following items are prohibited:

  • Air horns or noisemakers of any type
  • Animals, except service animals assisting guests with disabilities
  • Balloons, beach balls, and other projectiles
  • Bags OR clutches no larger than 8"x 5"x 1". There is an exception for medical and diaper bags
  • Cameras and detachable lenses
  • Drones or other model aircraft
  • Drugs (illegal)
  • Fireworks or explosives
  • Outside Food and Beverage including alcohol
  • Hazardous materials including chemicals and aerosols
  • Laptops
  • Laser pointers or products
  • Sealed or wrapped Packages
  • Selfie sticks
  • Signs and posters larger than 22" x 28", and signs on sticks
  • Stickers
  • Umbrellas (golf-style) or umbrellas with a pointed tip. Small collapsible umbrellas are permitted.
  • Weapons or tools of any type
  • Any item management deems a safety hazard or would diminish the guest experience, including signs or garments deemed offensive

In the event that prohibited items are revealed during a search, the guest will be permitted to return to their vehicle with the item or have the option to surrender the item to security.

NHL FAN CODE OF CONDUCT

The National Hockey League and its Member Clubs are committed to creating a safe and comfortable environment and enjoyable entertainment experience. NHL fans have a right to expect an environment in which they will be treated in a consistent, professional and courteous manner by all venue, team and League personnel. The Players and Officials have the same rights. Accordingly, fans are responsible for their own conduct.

The following standards have been established with respect to fan conduct:

  • Fans are entitled to enjoy the hockey experience free from disruptive or inconsiderate behaviors or unruly actions
  • Fans may not interfere with the event and/or athletes in any manner
  • Fans shall refrain from using abusive language or obscene gestures
  • Fans may not engage in fighting, throwing objects or other behavior deemed detrimental to the experience of other guests and those who engage in any of these actions will immediately be ejected from the game
  • Fans are encouraged to report inappropriate behavior to venue staff
  • Fans who choose to consume alcohol must do so in a legal and responsible manner. Intervention with an intoxicated or impaired fan will be handled in a prompt and safe manner
  • Fans shall comply with requests from venue staff regarding venue operational and emergency procedures
  • Fans may not engage in unauthorized commercial activity while on venue property
  • Violation of the Fan Code of Conduct may result in ejection from the venue without a ticket refund
