OUR MISSION

The mission of the NHL Foundation U.S., Inc. is to strengthen communities and improve lives across the United States through the game of hockey. By promoting access and fostering positive experiences both on and off the ice, the Foundation aims to create positive social impact and support the health and well-being of individuals and families through the sport.

For the Love of Hockey. For the Power of Hope

This Giving Tuesday, the NHL Foundation U.S. invites the hockey community to come together in the spirit of generosity. Join us in supporting the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, and The Matthew Perry Foundation — three organizations that embody courage, compassion, and perseverance both on and off the ice.

A Message from the Board Chair, Bill Daly

NHL Foundation U.S. was originally established with the mission of promoting and advancing growth in communities where we live and work. Over the years, we have made significant strides in advancing our cause, but also recognize that there is much more work to be done. To that end, we are committing to a more strategic and targeted approach to our efforts. We will be focusing on initiatives that address the social emotional development of young people, promote emotional well-being, advocate for broader participation, and help prepare individuals for future careers both in the hockey community specifically, and in the sports industry more generally.

To achieve this, we seek to partner with a diverse group of stakeholders, including nonprofits, community organizations, and academic institutions. We will also be engaging with experts in the fields of social emotional learning, mental healthcare, and civic organizations to ensure that our initiatives are grounded in research, documentation, and best practices.

We believe that our reimagining represents a significant opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those in need. We are excited about the work ahead and look forward to sharing the foundation’s progress in the months and years to come.
