oshie pause update

In the weeks since the NHL season was paused, we've heard from several players and members of the organization and last week was T.J. Oshie's turn.

He first appeared on an NHL network segment where he provided some updates on what has been occupying his time over the last month. Here are some highlights from that chat:

Update on his new baby boy Campbell:

"He's doing great, sleeping, pooping, and eating. The only things he does at this stage but he's been awesome."

On teaching his daughter, Lyla, how to ride a bike:

"I had to be a little delicate with the older one, she gets nervous pretty easily. I look kinda silly running behind her [in the video] but that was her first day without training wheels. She ended up figuring it out four days in. She wants to get out there everyday now."

On settling into a new 'normal':

"I'm getting more comfortable with understanding what I have to do on day to day basis being a stay at home dad. You feel like there's something missing though, you're not in the room with the guys, you're not competing every other night so I'm trying to fill that side missing with board games at night, and video games which I haven't done in six or seven years. For me, I take a positive out of being here for the birth of Campbell and being able to help out Lauren with the other kids. We've been rolling with the punches."

His favorite shootout goal (not including his own):

"That's easy, it's Datsyuk's backhand toe-drag goal. The hands part I think most NHL-ers can do, but the way he's able to stay on the one foot on his inside edge that's crazy talent and something I still can't do. It's not in my repetoire. When I saw that for the first time when I was younger I was in awe and still am."

Later in the week, Oshie did a Q&A takeover on the NHL's Instagram where he answered a ton of fun fan questions.

Some of the highlights of the takeover include what his favorite donut is, the highlight of his quarantine so far, what teammates he misses the most and which teammate he would quarantine with, and what he's currently binge watching (spoiler alert: he has a prop).
