Canucks Select Six Players at the 2021 NHL Entry Draft

Vancouver, BC - The Vancouver Canucks selected six players in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft today, including forward Danila Klimovich 41st overall, goaltender Aku Koskenvuo 137th, defenceman Jonathan Myrenberg 140th, defenceman Hugo Gabrielson 169th, centre Connor Lockhart 178th, and left wing Lucas Forsell 201st.

Klimovich, 18, accumulated 52 points (28-24-52), 40 penalty minutes and a +8 plus/minus rating in 37 games with Minskie Zubry (Vysshaya Liga) this season. He tied for second in league scoring during the playoffs, adding 14 points (9-5-14) in 12 games. Klimovich represented Team Belarus at the 2021 World Under-18 Championship, recording six goals in five games, and appeared in three games for Belarus at the 2021 IIHF World Championship.

Koskenvuo, 18, appeared in 13 games with HIFK U20 (U20 SM-sarja) this season, posting a 2.92 goals-against average and .893 save percentage. He represented Finland at the 2021 IIHF U18 World Championship, registering one shutout and a 3-3-0 record in six games played.

Myrenberg, 18, collected eight points (3-5-8),10 penalty minutes and a +1 plus/minus rating in 15 games with Linköping HC J20 (J20 Nationell) during the 2020.21 season, co-leading his club in scoring among defencemen. He also appeared in nine games with Sollentuna HC (HockeyEttan), recording six assists in regular season play and an additional four assists in six postseason games.

Gabrielson, 18, registered seven points (3-4-7) and 12 penalty minutes in 24 games with Halmstad Hammers HC (HockeyEttan) and added an assist in one qualification game. He also played 17 games with Frölunda HC J20 (J20 Nationell), accumulating 13 points (4-9-13) and 26 penalty minutes.

Lockhart, 18, tallied 27 points (9-18-27) and 16 penalty minutes in 57 games with the Erie Otters (OHL) in 2019.20. He recorded four points (2-2-4) in five games with Canada Red at the 2020 World U17 Hockey Challenge.  

Forsell, 17, played in 13 games with Färjestad BK J20 (J20 Nationell), tallying 11 points (4-7-11) and 14 penalty minutes. He also ranked fifth in scoring on Färjestad BK J18 (J18 Region) with 10 points (4-6-10) in only four games played.
