DETROIT -- Moritz Seider had a goal and two assists, helping the Detroit Red Wings end a four-game losing streak with a 5-4 win against the Boston Bruins at Little Caesars Arena on Tuesday.

“I thought we came out really well and executed our game plan,” Seider said. “This was a very good response against a very good team.”

Alex DeBrincat and Lucas Raymond each had a goal and an assist, Patrick Kane had two assists, and John Gibson made 34 saves for Detroit (14-11-2) to end a seven-start streak without a win (0-5-1).

“That was a real roller coaster of a game for a goaltender,” Red Wings coach Todd McLellan said. “It wasn’t easy, but [Gibson] got us a win. That has to be good for his confidence.”

Alex Steeves scored twice, Hampus Lindholm had three assists, and Morgan Geekie had two assists for Boston (15-13-0). Jeremy Swayman allowed five goals on 23 shots before being pulled early in the third period, ending a 10-start streak of allowing three goals or fewer. Joonas Korpisalo made nine saves in relief.

“It almost wasn’t fair to [Swayman] because of the way the team played in front of him,” Bruins coach Marco Sturm said. “Maybe he could have saved one or two, but he’s been so good for us that I wanted to get Joonas in there.”

The teams completed a home-and-home set after the Bruins defeated the Red Wings 3-2 in the shootout on Saturday.

James van Riemsdyk gave Detroit a 1-0 lead at 6:52 of the first period, scoring from the left face-off circle after taking a stretch pass up the left wall from Albert Johansson.

Seider made it 2-0 at 13:49 when his point shot through traffic beat Swayman low on his stick side.

“We knew they were going to come out hard, especially with the way the last game ended,” Sturm said. “We just were not sharp in the first period.”

DeBrincat then pushed it to 3-0 at 1:35 of the second period. His shot from the high slot trickled between Swayman’s stick and his body before going over the goal line.

Jonathan Aspirot cut it to 3-1 at 11:09 with his first NHL goal in his 15th game, scoring with a one-timer from the right point.

Steeves pulled Boston within 3-2 at 15:38, putting in the rebound after Gibson stopped Lindholm’s shot.

Thirteen seconds later, Gibson made a pad save on Elias Lindholm's spinning one-timer from between the circles to keep Detroit ahead.

Ben Chiarot then made it 4-2 at 16:15, scoring from the right hash marks off a pass from Dylan Larkin.

“That was huge,” DeBrincat said. “They had a little bit of momentum, but we get a big save, [Larkin] makes a play and Ben gives us back the two-goal lead. That made it easier for us.”

Raymond extended the lead to 5-2 on the power play at 3:55 of the third, one-timing Seider’s pass in the left circle and chasing Swayman.

With the teams at 4-on-4, Marat Khusnutdinov scored on a tip from the edge of the crease at 14:57 to cut it to 5-3.

Steeves got his second of the game at 19:48 with Korpisalo pulled for the extra attacker to make it a 5-4 final.

“It was nice to get the goals, but I’m not happy with the game,” Steeves said. “We’re a better team than that.”

NOTES: Boston defenseman Michael Callahan did not play after the first period because of a lower-body injury. Sturm said he didn’t think Callahan “will be ready for the next few days” but that the team should know more about his status Wednesday. … Bruins forward Viktor Arvidsson played 15:20 in his return after missing seven games with a lower-body injury. He had four shots on goal and was minus-1.
