Steve Waight is in his 19th season with the Chicago Blackhawks and his third as Vice President of Corporate Sponsorships.
Waight is responsible for all Blackhawks advertising sales, including print, Internet, in-arena, virtual TV signage, promotions, social media and all sponsorships affiliated with Blackhawks youth hockey programs and the Chicago Blackhawks Foundation. In addition, Waight spearheads all United Center advertising sales on behalf of the Blackhawks and manages relationships with the WGN Radio, WGN-TV and NBC Sports Chicago sales staffs.
Notable sponsorship accomplishments during Waight's tenure include the first-ever presenting sponsorship of a Blackhawks season (CBOE in 2008-09); the opening of the Crown Royal Whisky Bar and Ketel One Bar; exclusive agreements with Constellation Energy and NorthShore University HealthSystems; several on-premise activation programs with Bud Light, incorporating the Bud Light Ice Crew and Bud Light Bar Tour promotions; and the season-long Blackhawks customized Camaro sweepstakes with Chicagoland and NW Indiana Chevy Dealers.
Waight also played a key role in negotiating long-term sponsorship agreements with Lexus, CME Group, AT&T, American Express, the United Airlines naming rights deal for the United Center and the naming rights to the Blackhawks practice facility, MB Ice Arena.
Prior to joining the organization, Waight served as Corporate Sales Manager for the San Diego Chargers. In that role, he was in charge of selling corporate sponsorships for the Chargers and Qualcomm Stadium.
A native of Naperville, Ill., Waight is a graduate of the University of Iowa with a double major in marketing and finance. He and his wife, Katharine, have two children, David and Bridget, and reside in LaGrange, Ill.
