Grant Applications

Each year Chicago Blackhawks Charities (CBC) uses the funds raised throughout the season to give grants to local nonprofit organizations. These organizations, focused on education, health and wellness, and housing, provide programs that serve people in the community in and around Chicago. CBC also grants through the Chicago Blackhawks Community Fund, a fund of the McCormick Foundation, and The Robert. R. McCormick Foundation matched 50 cents for every dollar given.

Application Process

Near the beginning of each calendar year, Chicago Blackhawks Charities begins accepting letters of inquiry from interested nonprofit organizations in the Chicagoland area. Upon review, Chicago Blackhawks Charities invites befitting organizations to complete a formal grant application. These organizations are selected based on fit with CBC's mission (health and wellness, education and housing), balance between our areas of giving, and the available funds to use for grants that year.

Applications are collected in mid-May, then the final review process begins. Grant applicants seeking funding under the focus of Health and Wellness can apply for funding from Chicago Blackhawks Charities, and those interested in Education or Housing can apply through the Chicago Blackhawks Community Fund, a fund of the McCormick Foundation. Grant recipients are typically notified in October. Click here for the grant guidelines for the Chicago Blackhawks Community Fund, or call the Blackhawks at 312-455-7000 for any further questions.
