The Colorado Avalanche continued their preseason schedule as they hosted the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday night at Ball Arena and suffered a 5-2 loss.

For the Avalanche, Alex Newhook scored on the first shot of the game just 19 seconds into play, while Martin Kaut also scored. Pavel Francouz made 21 saves on 26 shots.
For the Wild, Tyson Jost scored twice on the power play, while Nic Petan also scored on the power play. Vladislav Firstov and Brandon Duhaime also scored at even strength. Filip Gustavsson made 26 saves on 28 shots. Zane Mcintyre took over in net midway through the game and made 13 saves on as many shots.


THE SCORING:

First Period:
0:19 - COL 1, MIN 0 -Alex Newhook put the Avalanche on the board on the first shot of the game. Charles Hudon sent a stretch pass up the ice to Martin Kaut, who drove to the net and fired a shot on net. Filip Gustavsson made the initial stop, but Newhook swooped in and buried the loose puck.
6:08 - MIN 1, COL 1, PPG -Sam Steel sent a pass to the back post where Tyson Jost buried it on the doorstep. Matthew Boldy also picked up an assist.
15:48 - MIN 2, COL 1, PPG - Tyson Jost scored his second goal of the game as he finished off a tik-tac-toe play from his linemates Sam Steel and Matthew Boldy.
Second Period:
0:20 - COL 2, MIN 2-Charles Hudonforced a turnover and fedMartin Kaut in the slot where he wired his shot past Gustavsson to trim Colorado's deficit down 3-2.

14:49 - MIN 3, COL 2, PPG - TheWild took advantage of a turnover as Nic Petan buried the attempted clear from below the hash marks in the low slot past Francouz.
17:21 - MIN 4, COL 2 -Vladislav Firstov doubled Minnesota's lead 4-2.
19:50 - MIN 5, COL 2 -
Minnesota extended its lead 5-2 with a quick strike from Brandon Duhaime.
Third Period: No goals

The Avalanche were 0-for-5 on the power play and were 5-for-8 on the penalty kill.
The Wild were 3-for-8 on the power play and were 5-for-5 on the penalty kill.
