Practice Calgary Flames Scotiabank Saddledome January 3, 2017

The Avalanche players, coaches and staff had a little extra time to sleep on Tuesday morning with a practice set for 1 p.m. at Scotiabank Saddledome, the home of the Calgary Flames. The team's bus didn't leave the hotel until 11:30 a.m., giving the players some extra time to rest up from the previous night's game in Vancouver or have a leisurely breakfast.

Calgary native Joe Colborne was one of those players that took advantage of the extra time, as he had breakfast with family before catching the bus.
Once at the arena, the club had meetings before hitting the ice for an hour-long practice. The only player that didn't participate was defenseman Eric Gelinas, who is out with a lower-body injury and won't play on Wednesday.
Return trips to Calgary for Jarome Iginla always bring a little extra attention from the local media, as he had plenty of press waiting for him in the locker room after practice. While Iginla was born in Edmonton, he played the first 15-plus seasons with the Flames and is the franchise's all-time leader in goals (525), points (1,095) and games played (1,219).

Following the media session, stretching and the other post-practice recovery methods that the players do, the team had the rest of the afternoon and evening to relax. Many members of the club went to grab lunch nearby, while a few others decided to take the 2:45 p.m. bus back to the hotel. The bus then made a second trip from the Saddledome after dropping off the first load of passengers at the Avs' downtown hotel.
Later that night, some of the Avs players went out to dinner together before heading back to the hotel for the evening to rest up for the next day's game versus the Flames.
