The National Hockey League announced Sunday night that the Colorado Avalanche will open Round 1 of 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs on Wednesday afternoon against the Arizona Coyotes.

The Avalanche begins the best-of-seven series against the Coyotes at 3:30 p.m. MT on Wednesday at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta.

Games 2 and 3 of the series will feature a back-to-back set as the second outing will be on Friday at 12 p.m. MT and the third matchup will take place on Saturday at 1 p.m. MT. It is Colorado's first back-to-back in the playoffs since Games 3-4 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals on April 14-15, 2008 versus the Minnesota Wild.

The fourth game of the series is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 17 at 3:30 p.m. MT. All games will take place in the Western Conference's hub city of Edmonton, Alberta.

Colorado secured the No. 2 seed in the West for the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs after posting a 2-0-1 mark in the qualifying round. Arizona begins the playoffs as the No. 7 seed after upsetting the Nashville Predators in four games in the best-of-five Stanley Cup Qualifiers.
