Nick Henry prospect Regina Pats Hamilton Bulldogs Memorial Cup 2018 May 18 H

Colorado Avalanche prospect Nick Henrywas the hero for the Regina Pats in the first game of the 2018 Memorial Cup on Friday night.
Henry scored the game-winning goal with 33 seconds left in the third period to lead the Pats to a 3-2 victory over the Hamilton Bulldogs at Brandt Centre in Regina, Saskatchewan. It was Regina's first contest since losing in Game 7 of Western Hockey League Playoffs first round on April 2.

"We're excited," Henry said to SportsNet following the game. "We've had a heck of a training camp the last 46 days or whatever it was, so it's awesome to come out and get the first one."
Hamilton, the champions of the Ontario Hockey League, took a 2-1 lead with 6:46 left in the second period, but the Pats tied game 2:16 later. The contest remained even until Henry scored on a rebound in front from a point shot by Libor Hajek.
Regina is hosting the 100th Memorial Cup tournament and next plays on Sunday against the Acadie-Bathurst Titan, winners of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
The WHL champion Swift Current Broncos and Avs prospect Josh Anderson begin their tournament on Saturday versus Acadie-Bathurst.
