Nick Henry prospect Regina Pats Acadie-Bathurst Titan Memorial Cup final 2018 May 27

The Regina Pats' Memorial Cup title aspirations fell short Sunday night as they lost 3-0 to the Acadie-Bathurst Titan in the tournament final to determine the champion of the Canadian Hockey League.
Regina, which was hosting the 100th Memorial Cup, couldn't get much going offensively against the winners of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, but the club was still within one score for much of the outing and had most of the sold-out crowd of 6,484 at Brandt Centre in support. Acadie-Bathurst had a 44-28 edge in shots on goal.

Pats goaltender Max Paddock finished with 41 saves and only allowed Adam Holwell's tally with 3:50 left in the first period through the first 40 minutes of play. Samuel Asselin scored at 13:02 of the third frame to extend the lead to two, and Ethan Crossman buried an empty-net shot with 30 seconds remaining to give the Titan its first Memorial Cup championship.
Colorado Avalanche prospect Nick Henry of Regina finished the contest with two shots on goal and won his only faceoff attempt. In five games at the Memorial Cup, he shared the tournament lead with five goals and finished with seven points, tied for third overall.

A native of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, Henry had three goals in the round-robin finale on Wednesday against the Swift Current Broncos, helping the Pats win 6-5 and eliminate the Western Hockey League champion.
Henry, who missed the start the 2017-18 campaign while recovering from offseason shoulder surgery, had 14 goals and 15 assists (29 points) in 53 regular-season games for the Pats. He had three goals and an assist in seven WHL playoff contests. Regina lost to Swift Current in the first round of the postseason.
Since the Pats were hosting the Memorial Cup, they earned an automatic berth into the Canadian Hockey League championship, and they didn't look rusty in the tournament despite not playing since April 2. Regina went 3-2 in the five games in Saskatchewan's capital city, with its only losses coming against Acadie-Bathurst.
The Pats nearly erased a five-goal deficit in the third period against the Titan in their round-robin matchup last Sunday.
Regina has won four previous Memorial Cups, tied for third-most in its 100-year history, and was looking for their first title since 1974.
