In 13 years, the Minnesota Wild Foundation's annual gala Wild About Children has raised more than $1.4 million to benefit Children's of Minnesota. The 2016 gathering Nov. 7 at Saint Paul RiverCentre, presented by West Bend, raised more than $230,000. As a result, the Cancer Kids Fund at Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota will receive $150,000 to help families with a child battling cancer or blood disorder. The remaining funds will support Wild Foundation initiatives like the Wild Idea Grant program and partners like Minnesota Hockey and DinoMights.
At Wild About Children, Wild players trade in their jerseys for aprons to serve an elegant three-course meal. The team signs autographs and takes photos with guests, who have the opportunity to bid on silent and live auction items and mix and mingle with the Wild.
