Little Wild Learn To Play Program

The Minnesota Wild are pleased to announce the fourth season of the Little Wild Learn To Play Hockey Program presented by the Minnesota Wild, Minnesota Hockey, CCM, Total Hockey, Hy-Vee, the NHL and NHLPA.

Since the inaugural season in 2014, over three thousand kids have been introduced to the game of hockey through the Little Wild Learn To Play Hockey Program presented by the Minnesota Wild, Minnesota Hockey, CCM, Total Hockey, Hy-Vee, the NHL and NHLPA.


Program Details

Please review the following information prior to registering your child.

  • To be eligible for Little Wild 2017, children must be born between September 1, 2012 and September 1, 2008.
    *Please note, 5 year old participants must have had their 5th birthday by September 1, 2017 to be eligible to participate. If your child is 9 years or older, he/she is ineligible for the Little Wild program.
  • The Minnesota Wild highly recommend skating lessons before the start of the Little Wild Program. Participants should be able to skate the width of the ice unassisted before the start of their first Little Wild clinic. For more information on skating lessons, please check out your local community education center or ice rinks for classes.
  • The program is intended for children who have not participated in organized youth hockey programs before. Children who have registered and played with a local Minnesota Hockey association and/or previously participated in Little Wild are not eligible to participate in the 2017 Little Wild Program.
  • ANY PLAYER WHO DOES NOT MEET THESE REQUIREMENTS WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE PROGRAM WITHOUT REFUND.

PROGRAM INFORMATION:

  • Program fee is $100 (+$5 registration fee) per child.
  • Registration opens at 10 am (CST) on Tuesday, May 23. All links for registration will be active at that time.
  • The 2017 Little Wild Program will operate out of 16 arenas throughout the metro and Greater Minnesota area. Only 65 participants will be accepted at each site.
  • All participants must register online, no exceptions or phone call reservations are accepted.
  • Once the Little Wild Learn To Play Hockey Program registration is complete, parents will be asked to register their child with a local Minnesota Youth Hockey Association.

EQUIPMENT FITTING INFORMATION:

  • Once registered, participants will receive a confirmation email with additional information related to equipment. Properly fit equipment is important for comfort, performance & safety.
  • If you are a confirmed participant of the 2017 program and have not received your confirmation email on equipment fittings by July 6, please email littlewild@wild.com.

  • If the Minnesota Wild becomes aware of a registered child with previous hockey association experience and/or Little Wild experience, the child will be removed from the Little Wild program without refund.
  • Cancellations: We understand that situations occur that may prevent you from participating in the Little Wild Learn to Play program. If you need to cancel your registration, please e-mail littlewild@wild.com with your request and our staff will work towards processing your refund. Cancellations must be requested before equipment fitting takes place.

 

2017 Little Wild FAQs

The Minnesota Wild and Little Wild Learn to Play reserve the right to cross-reference all participants and remove children who are ineligible without refund.

*If your child participated in a Learn to Skate program other than this, he/she is eligible for Little Wild.

Yes. We highly recommend skating lessons before the start of the Little Wild Program. Little Wild participants should be able to skate the width of the ice without assistance before their first Little Wild clinic. For further information on skating lessons, please check out your local community education or rinks for classes.

The total cost of the Little Wild Learn to Play Program is $100.00 (+$5 registration fee). This fee covers a full set of custom-fit CCM equipment from Total Hockey, a Little Wild jersey, and four, one-hour skating sessions at your appointed location. Participants keep all equipment at the completion of the program.

When you register for the Little Wild Learn to Play Program, you will receive a confirmation email with information on equipment fitting dates and times at a Total Hockey store location.

Yes. As long as you cancel before the equipment fittings, you will receive a full refund. Please contact us regarding your refund at 651.312.3443 or email littlewild@wild.com.

All coaches are USA Hockey certified ADM (American Development Model) coaches. Many are current Minnesota High School hockey coaches.

Welcome to the Little Wild team! You will receive an email from our program directing you to the next steps, including when, where, and how to get fitted at your local Total Hockey store in full CCM equipment.

Yes. Each site has a maximum of 65 participants. In the event that the location you are attempting to register for is full, you will automatically be added to a waiting list and contacted should a spot become available.

We hope your child thoroughly enjoyed their experience with Little Wild and ask all graduates of the program to register with USA Hockey (free for kids 4-6, ages 7+ will pay a $50 annual membership fee) and their local association for organized hockey. If your child is not ready for a full season, we suggest further skating lessons to continue developing your skater's abilities and confidence on the ice.
