Utah Hockey Club announced today the signing of defenseman Robert Bortuzzo to a one-year, two-way contract.
The 35-year-old Bortuzzo played in 27 NHL games in 2023-24 with the New York Islanders and St. Louis Blues. He also appeared in five Stanley Cup playoff games with the Islanders, tallying an assist with 14 penalty minutes (PIM).
The 6'4", 216-pound defenseman has tallied 20-54-74, plus-39 and 511 PIM in 560 career NHL games with the Islanders, Blues and Pittsburgh Penguins.
A native of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Bortuzzo has played an additional 60 NHL playoff games, posting 2-3-5 and 60 PIM. He was a member of the Blues 2019 Stanley Cup, playing in 17 playoff games and scoring two goals during the team’s championship season.
Bortuzzo was originally drafted by the Penguins in the third round (78th overall) in the 2007 NHL Draft.
