Ottawa Senators
general manager Pierre Dorion announced today that the club has signed defenceman Fredrik Claesson to a one-year, one-way contract extension through the 2017-18 NHL season. The one-year contract is valued at $650,000.

Claesson, 24, has recorded five assists in 18 games with Ottawa this season, while averaging 10:39 of time-on-ice per game. He started the season with Binghamton, earning one assist and two penalty minutes in nine AHL games.
In 34 NHL games over the last two seasons, Claesson has recorded seven assists and two penalty minutes. In 285 games over parts of five AHL seasons, he has scored 13 goals while adding 57 assists for 70 points, while recording 184 penalty minutes.
A Stockholm native, Claesson was Ottawa's fifth-round pick (126th overall) in the 2011 NHL Draft.
