Vancouver, B.C. -The Vancouver Canucks are proud to host their second annual EA Sports NHL 20 tournament, the 2020 TD Canucks Chel Challenge presented by Sportsnet. Games will be held on weekends from June 13th to July 4th and fans in BC will have their chance to compete against two Canucks players, Thatcher Demko and Jake Virtanen, who will be participating in the tournament.

New to this year, the tournament will hold online-only brackets on both Playstation 4 and Xbox One. NHL 20 players across British Columbia, ages 13 and above, are invited to enter for a chance to win a grand prize that includes $2,000 cash, a Canucks signed jersey and an opportunity to play NHL 20 with a current Canucks player streamed live on Canucks Twitch courtesy of TD. Event partner, Circle K, will be providing additional prizing throughout the tournament.

"As we ride out this storm together, we're excited to be able to provide virtual experiences for fans that they can enjoy in the comfort of their home," said Theresa McLaughlin, Global Chief Marketing, Citizenship & Customer Experience Officer, TD Bank Group. " While large scale events are not taking place at the current time, we believe strongly in engaging with our fans in ways that only sponsorships can deliver. The current situation requires creativity and fortunately for us the Vancouver Canucks couldn't agree more."

"Now more than ever, we all better appreciate that our lives are improved when we are able to connect with our community and each other, and online gaming has shown to be a fun and effective way to facilitate those connections," said Andy Cribb, Senior Vice President, TD Pacific Region. "TD is thrilled to support an event that will bring people together virtually for a bit of 'intermission' from their day-to-day where they can strengthen relationships and build confidence while uniquely engaging with some of our Canucks heroes."

"Sportsnet is excited to engage a young, passionate community of gamers through this event that really builds a bridge between traditional sports and esports," said Bart Yabsley, President of Sportsnet. "Our personalities are looking forward to engaging with participants and producing some fun content throughout the tournament."

"Battlefy is very excited to be partnering again with our neighbors, the Vancouver Canucks, for another amazing experience," said Jason Xu, Chief Executive Officer, Battlefy. "It's during these times that we, as leaders in the industry and passionate hockey fans, do more for the community. Hopefully, we will bring excitement and a few smiles into our lives and living rooms while we are all dealing with being home. See everyone on the virtual rink!"

Registration for each of the four qualifying tournaments is now open with up to 2,048 spots available. Each qualifying tournament match will be played on both Playstation 4 and Xbox One online via Battlefy in single elimination format.

The sixteen players who advance from the four qualifying tournaments in each bracket will move on to the playoff tournament held on Saturday, June 27th. From there, the top two players from each bracket will have earned their spot to play in the 2020 TD Canucks Chel Challenge Finals on July 4th, streamed live on Canucks Twitch.
