Cassidy Cup day

Bruce Cassidy started his day with the Stanley Cup in a moving way on Thursday.

The Vegas Golden Knights coach brought the trophy to Milton, Massachusetts, where he helped launch the Cassidy Murray Foundation in honor of his daughter's late friend. The nonprofit is dedicated to offering mental health resources and education to those navigating tragedy.

Murray tragically passed away in a boating accident while on vacation in Aruba in March 2022.

Cassidy and his daughter, Shannon, wore special shirts with the foundation's logo and said a few words at the podium during the launch event.

"I thought I would try to do my part once we won the Cup because, let's face it, the Cup is pretty cool to have [here]," Bruce Cassidy said before introducing his daughter in a video posted on Vegas' Twitter account.

"Cassidy was my best friend, and she was the best person I ever met," Shannon said in the video. "[She was] so sweet, so kind, so happy. She had the biggest smile and I just want you all to remember that to always let your smile change the world and don't let the world change your smile."

After the event, the Golden Knights coach brought the Cup to Cape Cod, where he enjoyed time with family and friends.
