DALLAS -The Coyotes and Stars combined to score a half dozen goals during a chaotic third period on Monday night at American Airlines Center.
Tyler Seguin tallied the sixth one with 7:32 to play, and it turned out to be the decisive goal. Dallas won, 5-4, to stretch its winning streak to five games.

Arizona led, 2-1, after two periods and started the third period with 2:40 left on a boarding penalty called against Brett Richie. But Oliver Ekman-Larsson (hooking) and Niklas Hjalmarsson (delay of game) were called for penalties early in the final frame, and Dallas took advantage by scoring two power-play goals and an even-strength goal within a span of 1:11.
"We have to realize it's (essentially) playoff hockey right now," said Ekman-Larsson, who became the franchise's highest scoring defenseman by notching his 109th goal in the first period. "We have to work hard every single shift. We can't take one shift off, and that's what we did a couple times when they scored."

Ekman-Larsson: 'We Can't Take One Shift Off'

Trailing 4-2, Vinnie Hinostroza and Alex Galchenyuk scored goals from in close 1:01 apart to quickly lift the Coyotes back into a tie, which lasted 4:38 until Seguin converted a crisp pass from Jamie Benn into the game-winner.
The Coyotes were awarded their fifth power play with 2:26 left in the game but, skating six-on-four with an empty net behind them, couldn't get the puck past Stars goalie Ben Bishop, who made 38 saves.
"We battled back to 4-4 and we had two, three chances at the end to tie it," Coyotes Head Coach Rick Tocchet said. "It seems like every time we play Dallas, we play them well. Seguin (and) Benn, near the end they always come up with a big play. That's why they're great players."

Kevin Connauton also scored a goal, his first of the season, and Clayton Keller and Nick Cousins each chipped in two assists for the Coyotes, who will conclude a three-game trip at Nashville on Tuesday. Darcy Kuemper made 24 saves.
"We worked hard and competed and did our best to give ourselves a chance to win the game," Lawson Crouse said. "But at the end of the day, they got that clutch goal there at the end that determined the outcome."
Alex Goligoski was the player Ritchie boarded at 17:40 of the second period. Goligoski, who endured a nasty cut over his right eye on the play, did not return to the game.
"He's an important guy for us and not having him out there hurts us," Ekman-Larsson said. "Other guys came in and had to step up. We need him to play and to be a successful team. It's tough."
Ritchie was given a 5:00 boarding penalty and a game misconduct.
• Stats that jump off the Event Summary: 10 Coyotes produced at least one point, Derek Stepan took eight shots on goal, and Ekman-Larsson blocked four shots.
• The Coyotes played minus defenseman Jakob Chychrun, who missed a second straight game because of a lower-body injury. He'll miss Tuesday's game at Nashville, too, but could return to the lineup later this week when the team returns to Arizona for a homestand.
