PIT@DET: DeSmith keeps penguins in lead with saves

DETROIT -- Casey DeSmith made 36 saves for the Pittsburgh Penguins in a 3-2 win against the Detroit Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena on Monday.

Bryan Rust, Jason Zucker and Josh Archibald scored, and Sidney Crosby had an assist for Pittsburgh.
Ville Husso allowed three goals on 18 shots in two periods for Detroit. Jussi Olkinuora made six saves in relief.
Rust gave the Penguins a 1-0 lead with a power-play goal at 12:30 of the first period.
Archibald made it 2-0 at 4:52 of the second period, scoring short side on Husso from low in the right circle.
Zucker extended the lead to 3-0 with a power-play goal at 18:01.
Dominik Kubalik scored his third of the preseason to make it 3-1 at 2:59 of the third period before Dylan Larkin cut it to 3-2 at 17:20.
