Evgeni Malkin won't play Tuesday for Penguins

Evgeni Malkin will miss his third straight game when the Pittsburgh Penguins play at the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday (7 p.m., ET; MSG-B, ROOT, NHL.TV).
Malkin, who sustained an upper-body injury during a 4-0 loss against the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday, won't travel with the Penguins to Buffalo, coach Mike Sullivan said Monday.

The center is second on the Penguins in goals (33) and points (72), behind Sidney Crosby, whose 40 goals and 80 points lead the NHL.
After Tuesday, the Penguins have back-to-back games at the Ottawa Senators on Thursday and home against the New York Islanders on Friday.
The Penguins are third in the Metropolitan Division with 99 points, one point behind the Washington Capitals and Columbus Blue Jackets. Pittsburgh has a six-point lead on the fourth-place New York Rangers.
Sullivan also said that defensemen Kris Letang and Olli Maatta are progressing. Letang has been out since Feb. 21 because of an upper-body injury, and Maatta hasn't played since Feb. 16 because of a hand injury.
Forward Bryan Rust, who has been out since Feb. 9 because of an upper-body injury, wouldn't confirm his return to the lineup but told the Penguins website, "There's a game I'm shooting for."
