As part of theLA Kings 50th Anniversary Season Opening Weekend, the club will welcome back original members from the 1967-68 Kings organization before its home opener Friday at STAPLES Center.
Fourteen original members from the inaugural season are scheduled take part in the on-ice pregame festivities before the LA Kings home opener against the Philadelphia Flyers. The date holds special significance as the LA Kings played the franchise's very first game on October 14, 1967 against the Flyers at Long Beach Arena, and the Kings will wear their original Vintage Gold uniforms for the only time this season.

Another highlight of the 2016-17 season will be the unveiling of a new storied Kings monument that will exist among the other legendary statues outside STAPLES Center. This monument - made of bronze, granite and glass - will serve to commemorate 50 years of LA Kings hockey. The unveiling will occur on Saturday, November 26 before the LA Kings host the Chicago Blackhawks.
The 50th Anniversary Celebration will conclude with the 2017 NHL All-Star Game at STAPLES Center. The game on January 29 is the highlight of All-Star Weekend (January 28-29) and features the popular NHL All-Star Skills Competition and NHL Fan Fair.
Another highlight of Friday's home opener is the Kings and AEG have again partnered with Unlicensed Chimp Technologies (UCT) on a new fan-facing enhancement to the game day experience. This past February UCT & AEG teamed up to let LA Kings fans exclusively test a custom developed beta version of UCT's communication protocol, scheduled for global launch in Q1 2017. The LA Kings kick-off the 2016-17 regular season Wednesday in San Jose. The game against the rival Sharks will be broadcast nationally on NBCSN and it will be broadcast by the LA Kings on KABC Radio 790.
The home opener between the LA Kings and Flyers will air on FOX Sports West Friday night at 7:30 p.m. The game will be preceded by an episode of "In My Own Words/Anze Kopitar" at 5:30 p.m., the Kings Live Season Preview show at 6:30 p.m., and the Kings Live Pregame show at 7 p.m. The Kings Live Postgame show will air immediately following the game.
