Miller arrives to opener with new Stanley Cup ring

If anyone needs a reminder that K'Andre Miller is a Stanley Cup champion, look no further than his right hand.

The Carolina Hurricanes defenseman arrived at Lenovo Center on Tuesday wearing his sparkling new Stanley Cup championship ring for the team’s season opener against the Florida Panthers (5 p.m. ET; ESPN).

And he had on a stylish plaid suit to boot.

The players received their Stanley Cup championship rings Sunday after their preseason finale. The rings feature more than 900 individual stones and 9.80 carats of diamonds and 1.4 carats of red rubies.

Each ring holds a puck pendant inside it and features a likeness of the team's mascot, Stormy, underneath. The North Carolina state flag is on the underside of the removable ring top, circled by each player's jersey number in a nod to their "Storm Surge" victory celebration.

The Hurricanes will raise their championship banner before their game against the Panthers on Tuesday. It’s the first game a season-opening tripleheader on ESPN, to be followed by the New York Rangers at Boston Bruins (8 p.m. ET) and Chicago Blackhawks at Vegas Golden Knights (10:30 p.m. ET).
