We've got quotes from the captain about his weekend in Tampa Bay, some news on Ottawa's latest roster moves and more before the Sens take on the Hurricanes tonight in Raleigh.

1. Karlsson on his disallowed All-Star goal

Sens captain Erik Karlsson is set to rejoin his teammates tonight after spending the last few days in Tampa for NHL All-Star Weekend. While Karlsson and Team Atlantic would ultimately lose to Team Pacific in the finals, it was his disallowed goal in their opening game that gave Karlsson a laugh after the event.
"I don't score too many goals either so I really wanted that one," joked Karlsson. "When they called the offside ruling on me, I didn't know what to do. It's all in good fun and it was offside so no hard feelings."
Karlsson, like the capacity crowd at Amalie Arena, was left in suspense for referee Wes McCauley's climatic ruling.
"The way he said it I thought he was going to say it was a good goal," he recalled. "Then he switched it to offside at the last second on me but it's all in good fun and we won that game so we moved on from it."

2. Roster moves

Prior to yesterday's skate in Raleigh, the Sens recalled some re-enforcements from Belleville as Chris DiDomenico, Colin White and Erik Burgdoerfer while join the team for their 1-game road trip.

The Sens remain banged up following the All-Star Break and are without Mark Stone (possible for this weekend), Nate Thompson (day-to-day), Johnny Oduya (day-to-day) and Gabriel Dumont (week-to-week). With so many regulars out of the line-up, the coach is unsure how he'll deploy his roster tonight against the Hurricanes.
"We could 11 and 7 or we could go 12 and 6," said Guy Boucher about his line-up for tonight. "Right now the tendancy would be to use all our forwards but I might change my mind after the morning skate."

3. Newest Senator

After being acquired via waivers on Friday, Magnus Paajarvi joined his new teammates for yesterday's practice. Paajarvi, who trains during the off-season with Fredrik Claesson and has played with and against Karlsson growing up in Sweden, is excited to know some players on his new club but shared that the others have all welcomed him with open arms.
"It's always nice when you have somebody that you can say 'hey, what's up' to," said Paajarvi. "I've said hello to all the guys now and they've been more than welcoming so far."
Paajarvi will make his Sens debut tonight against the Hurricanes and plans to keep things simple to start.
"It's a new system, new everything but I'm not going to try to think too much," he said. "I'm definitely wanting to use my speed, chase pucks and get it to the guys that I'm playing with."

The coach also spoke about Paajarvi's addition to the roster and how there is definitely an opportunity for him with the Senators.
"We're going to give him a chance for sure," shared Boucher. "All our scouts and management group feel that he's got speed and size to help us. He's a good guy who's first on puck, can play on the penalty kill and he just needs to become a reliable, hard-working NHL player."

4. Previous meeting

It's been nearly a year since these teams last met in Raleigh with the Hurricanes blanking the Sens 3-0 back on February 24th, 2017. Craig Anderson was the standout for Ottawa turning aside 41 of the 44 shots he faced but his teammates were unable to provide much in the way of offensive support that night.
