Selected by the Oilers with the No. 1 pick in the 2010 NHL Draft, he won the Hart Trophy, voted as the League's most valuable player, with the Devils in 2017-18, when he had an NHL career-high 93 points (39 goals, 54 assists) in 76 games. He won the Stanley Cup with the Hurricanes last season, his 17th in the League.
Carolina (6-1-1), already without captain Jordan Staal for 1-2 months because of a calf tear, has won six straight following an 0-1-1 start.
The Hurricanes could fortify their lineup Saturday as Seth Jarvis could make his season debut after having surgery in June to repair a torn labrum and rotator cuff in his right shoulder.
"I would hope so," Brind'Amour said when asked if Jarvis will be able to play during a five-game road trip that begins at the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday (3:30 p.m. ET; SNE, SNO, SNW, CARNHL, HHN). "He hasn't been cleared yet, so when he gets that clearance, then we'll see."
Jarvis led Carolina with 32 goals last season and had 11 points (four goals, seven assists) in 19 playoff games.
The Hurricanes recalled two forwards from Chicago of the American Hockey League -- Bradly Nadeau on Wednesday and Felix Unger Sorum on Friday.
"Both those guys, I thought, played great in the preseason and we just didn't have spots available," Brind'Amour said, "and now we have injuries ... so I'm sure they'll see some action here."
