Kirk Muller paid homage to a Hall of Famer.

The Montreal Canadiens assistant coach offered congratulations to Youppi! after he was inducted into the Mascot Hall of Fame on Sunday.

Muller, who played 267 games over four seasons for the Canadiens and is in his second tour as associate coach with Montreal, saluted Youppi's efforts as mascot for both the Canadiens and now-defunct Expos of Major League Baseball.

"That's long overdue, pal," Muller said in his address. "I remember watching you back in the day at the old Expo baseball games and over time you sure have gotten better."

Youppi!, who has been the Canadiens mascot since the Expos left for Washington, D.C. in 2005, received a special ring for his honor.

The Montreal mascot joined Oriole Bird (Baltimore Orioles), Blue (Indianapolis Colts) and Boomer (Indiana Pacers) in the class of 2020.

They were inducted Sunday via a virtual ceremony.
