St. Louis was signed by the Lightning as a free agent on July 31, 2000, going on to appear in 972 games with the Bolts and serving as captain during the 2013-14 season. He is the franchise's all-time leader for points with 953, assists with 588, game-winning goals with 64 and short-handed goals with 28. He ranks second for games played and goals with 365, as well as third for power-play goals with 96.
The undrafted forward out of Laval, Quebec is Tampa Bay's all-time leader in Stanley Cup Playoff goals with 33, points with 68, overtime goals with three and game-winning goals with eight. Perhaps his most iconic goal as a member of the Lightning was his winner in double overtime of Game 6 of the 2004 Stanley Cup Final. With the Bolts trailing the Calgary Flames three games to two, St. Louis found the slightest of openings, beating Flames goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff to even the series and send it back to Tampa Bay for Game 7, a game the Lightning won, 2-1, for it's first and only Stanley Cup Championship.
St. Louis was a six-time NHL All-Star while with the Lightning, serving as alternate captain in 2011. He was named the NHL's most valuable player, recognized with the Hart Trophy, in 2004, while also collecting the Art Ross Trophy (NHL regular season points leader) and Lester B Pearson Award (MVP as voted on by the NHL Players Association). St. Louis won the Art Ross again in 2012-13. He also took home the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy (sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct with a high standard of playing ability) in 2010, 2011 and 2013.
The Lightning retired St. Louis' No. 26 on January 13, 2017.
