The NHL-leading Tampa Bay Lightning are without one of their top defensemen as they begin the post-Christmas portion of their schedule Thursday night at AMALIE Arena versus Atlantic Division rival Montreal.
Anton Stralman did not take part in warmups for the Lightning and was a surprise scratch from the lineup. He's listed as day-to-day with a lower-body injury.

In Stralman's absence, veteran blueliner Dan Girardi moved up into Stralman's spot alongside Mikhail Sergachev on the Lightning's second pairing. Andrej Sustr, a healthy scratch the last two games, came back into the Lightning lineup and skated on the third pair with Braydon Coburn.
Stralman had played in all 35 games this season for Tampa Bay until missing the Montreal contest. He ranks third among Lightning defensemen for scoring with four goals and 11 points and leads the Bolts for average shorthanded time on ice (2:47).
Stralman paces the NHL for plus/minus with a plus-24 rating.
