The Columbus Blue Jackets are thrilled to offer students and schools the chance to participate in the Scripps National Spelling Bee through the Blue Jackets Regional Spelling Bee.

The spelling bee offers numerous academic, literacy, and life skill benefits, including:

  • Enhancing spelling abilities, expanding vocabulary, and fostering proper English usage.
  • Encouraging the growth of self-confidence, responsibility, and independence.
  • Providing valuable experience in building essential skills for public speaking, language comprehension, effective study habits, and mastering new concepts.

Schools will host their own spelling bee competitions, and the first-place winner from the school-level bee will move on to compete in the Blue Jackets online qualifier. The top 40-scoring students from the online qualifier will earn a seat at the 2025 Blue Jackets Regional Spelling Bee for a chance to compete in Washington, D.C. at the Scripps National Spelling Bee. The Regional Bee champion will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C. to represent the region at the national competition.
