Alexander Holtz is the newest addition to the New Jersey Devils franchise. Holtz was drafted seventh overall in the 2020 NHL Draft, and was the Devils first selection of the night.
Holtz played for Djurgarden in the Swedish Hockey League and is a right wing with a right shot. He is 6'0 and 192 pounds. He played 35 games this past season and had 16 points; nine goals and seven assists.

Goran Stubb, NHL's Director of European Scouting said "Holtz is a sniper. I think as an 18-year-old, there are only two other 18-year-old players playing in the Swedish League who have better stats than Holtz and those two guys are Markus Naslund and Peter Forsberg so I think that says a lot about him as an offensive player and a sniper."
NHL Central Scouting says Holtz's NHL comparable player is Brock Boeser. Holtz is a great addition to the Devils franchise with a strong hockey IQ, above-average skating and a variety of shots in his arsenal.

Holtz also has a Devils connection, he trains with Devils forward Jesper Bratt in Sweden. Bratt told SVT Sport that Holtz is "an incredibly humble guy who works hard. An incredibly talented player who will have a good name in the future and really be a leading player in an NHL team."
