The Vancouver Canucks are proud to once again participate in the Vancouver Sun's 21st Annual Raise-A-Reader fundraising campaign in support of family literacy programs across British Columbia.

For the second year in a row, Raise-A-Reader embraces a user-friendly online platform to collect donations during a week-long celebration of literacy and fundraising. Anyone with a passion for supporting family literacy programs across BC are encouraged to log-on to raiseareader.com to donate now.
As one of the partner beneficiaries of Raise-A-Reader, the Canucks for Kids Fund will donate the generous Raise-A-Reader grant directly to the Canucks Family Education Centre (CFEC) to support the cost of offering quality pre-school and adult classes, hot meals, child-minding and transit passes totally free of charge to 500 learners each week. With locations on both Vancouver's east-side and in Burnaby's Edmonds neighbourhood, CFEC uses a multi-generational approach that engages all family members in learning. Higher literacy rates has been proven to create more productive and happier citizens which in turn, builds stronger communities.
"The funding CFEC receives as a direct result of the success of the Raiser-A-Reader fundraising is essential to keep our doors open and our students learning," says Jean Rasmussen, Executive Director of the Canucks Family Education Centre. "At CFEC we pride ourselves in changing lives through the positive experience of learning in a safe, welcoming environment."
Daniel & Marinette Sedin and their family have leant their time to this year's campaign, sitting down with the Vancouver Sun to chat in-depth about why reading is important in their lives and also to discuss Marinette's important involvement with CFEC.
