QUICK HITS
BLUES Saturday's game against the Nashville Predators was the Blues' second consecutive loss and fourth loss on the road this season. Philip Broberg scored his first goal of the season - assisted by Mason McTavish - and Jimmy Snuggerud scored on the power play for his fourth goal of the season. Jordan Binnington made 19 saves.
Snuggerud's PPG came just 31 seconds after the Blues' power play unit surrendered a shorthanded goal, with Adam Edstrom and Roman Josi capitalizing on a miscue in the Blues' offensive zone.
"[Shorthanded] goals from the other team aren't really nice," Snuggerud said. "It can bring a bench down, but I thought we turned it around quickly. That was a big goal in a big part of the game. It was a good play by [Jake Neighbours]."
The Blues are 3-4-1 in their first seven games and currently sit in seventh place in the Central Division standings. The team hopes to use their upcoming five-game homestand to build momentum.
"We've only had two at home so far, six on the road - we got five in a row at home here," said Head Coach Jim Montgomery. "It's going to be awesome to get back in front of our fans and try to get on a run."
JETS Perhaps the biggest storyline surrounding the Winnipeg Jets this season is goaltender Connor Hellebuyck. A 2024-25 Hart Trophy winner and three-time Vezina Trophy winner, Hellebuyck requested a trade from Winnipeg during the offseason. The 33-year-old did not report to training camp and has since been on a team-sanctioned suspension.
Amid Hellebuyck's situation, the Jets' crease has been manned by Stuart Skinner, who signed a two-year contract as a free agent, and Clay Stevenson, who was claimed off waivers from the Washington Capitals on Sept. 28.
Winnipeg also extended contract extensions to forward Cole Perfetti (five-year contract) and defenseman Mario Ferraro (three-year contract). Forward Viggo Bjorck, who was drafted No. 8 overall in the 2026 NHL Draft, signed his three-year entry-level contract with the Jets and has been slotted as the team's second-line center to begin the season.
Last year, the Jets finished seventh in the Central Division standings with a 35-35-12 record and 82 points. Led by captain Adam Lowry and Head Coach Scott Arniel, Winnipeg is aiming to return to the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time since the 2024-25 postseason.
The Jets have a 4-2-2 record to begin the season, coming off a 3-2 home loss to the Carolina Hurricanes. Ahead of Tuesday's matchup, the team announced that they've recalled forward Brayden Yager from their AHL Affiliate, the Manitoba Moose.
