The AHL affiliate of the Blue Jackets is 15-5-1 in its last 21 games after a road sweep of Hartford last week.
The series opened Wednesday with a 3-2 win over the Wolf Pack, as Zach Aston-Reese scored the winner with 2:13 to play. Aston-Reese, Luca Del Bel Belluz and captain Brendan Gaunce each had a goal and an assist, while Ivan Fedotov stopped 30 shots. Then on Friday, Cleveland posted a 3-1 victory as rookie defenseman Guillaume Richard scored twice and Jack Williams added the empty-netter.
The Monsters are now 32-19-6-1, good for third in the AHL North with 14 games to go. AHL All-Star Del Bel Belluz has a 7-16-23 line in the last 21 games, while Gaunce has points in 11 of the last 13 contests (5-11-16). Williams leads the league with four OT goals.
As it looks to close in on a playoff bid, Cleveland plays at Toronto on Tuesday and Belleville on Wednesday, then trips to Syracuse for games Saturday and Sunday.
