The Official Site of the Columbus Blue Jackets

The Columbus Blue Jackets Book Jackets program presented by College Advantage is a reading incentive program that uses the excitement of the Columbus Blue Jackets to encourage students in grades K-8 to spend more time reading.

The program is easy to implement and helps your students become All-Star Readers by providing great Blue Jackets incentives to reach reading goals. Book Jackets can be run over a four-week period from August 2017 - April 2018.

Additional resources are available, including extra welcome packet contents, certificates of achievement, and hockey themed book suggestions courtesy of the Columbus Metropolitan Library.

HERE'S HOW IT WORKS:

1. Register your classroom. After registering, you will be mailed a welcome packet which includes the following:

  • Classroom minute tracking poster
  • Student scorecards
  • Letter for your student's parents/guardians about the program
  • Teacher appreciation Blue Jackets ticket offer (emailed)

2. Your students' parents/guardians will help keep track of minutes read outside the classroom that will be reported back to teachers weekly.

3. At the end of the four weeks, teachers will submit classroom forms onto this website and wait for student prizes to be sent out within four weeks of submission.

4. Please note 2017-18 program deadlines:

  • October 15: Last day teachers can register to be automatically entered to win one of four Stinger pizza parties for classroom
  • January 31: Last day teachers can submit reading minutes for select students to be eligible for All-Star skate in February
  • March 1: Last day teachers can register classrooms to participate in 2017-18 Book Jackets program
  • April 3: Last day teachers can submit reading minutes to be eligible for student prizes
