Dallas Stars Skating Academy

The Dallas Stars and its Community Ice Rinks are proud to administer Learn to Skate USA. This curriculum is the only Learn to Skate program endorsed by USA Hockey, US Speed Skating, Special Olympics, and US Figure Skating. Classes are organized into age specific levels and designed for any beginner to acquire the necessary skills to enjoy the sport of Ice Skating for a lifetime!

Ice Explorers: Ages 2-4

Snowplow Sam 1-4: Ages 3-6

Basic 1-6: Ages 7-14

Pre-Free Skate - Free Skate 3: Ages 6 & Up

Adult 1-6: Ages 15 & Up

All age groups lay the foundation for FUN and any other discipline within the skating community. Please note that each rink will have a mixture of these classes available.

LEARN TO SKATE USA

All skaters are required to have a Learn to Skate USA membership to enroll in classes. These memberships provide numerous resources that will help the individual progression of each skater.

Sign up for your Learn to Skate USA Membership below and choose StarCenter Euless, StarCenter Farmers Branch, Comerica Center Frisco, StarCenter Mansfield, StarCenter McKinney, StarCenter Plano, or StarCenter Richardson as your program.

PRICING

  • Pricing is $18 per class when you register ahead of time.
  • Skaters will receive FREE skate rental on the day of their class.
  • There is a 10% sibling discount for booking together. 
  • Skaters in Snowplow Sam, Basic Skills, Adult, and Hockey skating classes receive (5) free Public Sessions passes, good for any Public Session at any StarCenter. Passes are valid through the duration of the session a skater is registered for.
  • Skaters in Pre-Free Skate receive (1) exploratory freestyle session with a coach. Exploratory session schedule and length to be organized by rink Skating Director or Manager. 
  • $36 per class for drop-in skaters. Drop-in skaters must have a current Learn to Skate USA membership.

Ice Explorers Parent & Child Class

Ice Explorers is a new, 6-week-long Skating Academy program designed for children ages 2-4 and their parents. The first two weeks of the program take place off-ice, with a focus on establishing comfortability in skates and practicing baseline movements such as falling, getting up, and marching.

Semester: March 22 - April 26

Class Time: Fridays 2:00 - 2:30 PM

Cost: $30 per class

Price includes skate rentals, 30-minutes of instruction, and public skating admission for one parent and one child.

Adaptive Skating

The Adaptive Skating Program is designed to guide skates with intellectual disabilities or skaters with physical disabilities to develop skating skills.

DATES: April 5 - 26

TIME: Fridays 10:30 - 11:30 AM

COST: $25 per skater per session ($36 drop in)

Skate rentals are included in the cost. Please note that helmets and gloves are required. Pre-registration is recommended for all classes. Be sure to obtain/renew memberships at www.learntoskateusa.com as these are required for all Skating Academy classes.
