The Scott Hamilton Skating Academy's Learn to Skate program is available at Ford Ice Center Antioch and Bellevue and uses Learn to Skate USA curriculum.
The program is designed to serve the needs of both recreational and competitive skaters by teaching figure skating and hockey skills. All of our coaches are committed to sharing a fun and positive experience that will instill a lifelong love of skating. Our mission is to make skating available to people of all ages, descriptions and ambitions.
Welcome back families! We have missed you! Our No. 1 priority is to keep our participants, guests, athletes and staff healthy while providing exceptional on-ice programming. To do this, we are taking many steps to keep everyone safe.
Health, Safety and COVID-19 Measures:
Limiting the number of participants in our programs
More time between programs to clean and get participants in and out of the building
Dedicated cleaning crews in the facility while the building is open and deep cleaning and sanitizing the building every night
Coaches wearing face coverings on the ice
Face coverings will be worn properly over the nose and mouth by everyone when in the facility.
Participants must wear their mask until they are on the ice. Masks should be stored on the hooks behind the benches.
Participants will be allowed up to four (4) guests in the facility. All guests must have a completed Facility Access Waiver.
Expanded guest policy will be in effect 9/25-9/27 for a trial period. This policy is subject to change or reversal.
Participants and guests will not be allowed in the facility until 15 minutes prior to their scheduled event
Directional signage to help participants and guests practice social distancing
Locker rooms are available for stick time, open hockey and adult league. All other programs will still utilize the lobby. All participants are still expected to arrive in their gear and use locker rooms and/or lobby to tie skates.
All participants and guests will be required to have an updated waiver signed before coming into the facility as well as a COVID-19 form. Both documents will be emailed prior to your programs and will need to be completed before entering either facility. Failure to comply with these safety measures may result in suspension from the facility. All policies are subject to change at any moment.

Homeschool Learn to Skate
The Scott Hamilton Skating Academy is happy to provide a skating program for Nashville's homeschool and Pre-K children. Our Learn to Skate Homeschool Program provides the perfect opportunity for those not bound to a traditional schedule, to make new friends and get their required physical education credits in a fun way.
Parents and friends are also encouraged to hit the ice as well! While one half of the ice is used for our Homeschool Learn to Skate program, the other half is open for our Homeschool Open Skate session!
Thursday at 9:45 a.m. - 10:25 a.m. (CT) at our Antioch Location
Wednesdays at 9 a.m. - 9:40 a.m. at our Bellevue Location
My daughter got stuck on level Basic 4 at another skate school. She loved skating but was getting discouraged... to the point of tears. She took B4 for the fourth time at Scott Hamilton and all the pieces fell into place. A big difference is that there's always extra teachers going from group to group and giving extra help when a student needs it.
My girls are both on the beginner side (ages five and seven) they loved it! They learned so much and loved all the different aspects of Learn to Skate camp. The staff is wonderful and the instructors are very kind.
Our family loves this place. My son plays hockey and our daughter is figure skating. She absolutely loves the Scott Hamilton Skating Academy and was a participant this past weekend in the "Dreams Begin Here" in-house competition where she placed Gold. The Scott Hamilton Skating Academy offers classes at all levels and open skate for the family. I would highly recommend it.
Incredible experience! Everyone is extremely helpful! We will be back every chance we get!
We love the program; but most importantly the staff!! Our family has seen this program from the ground up and it continues to get better and better. Just seeing Ms. Paula's smile each week is worth our family's time there.
My four-year-old daughter is in the Learn to Skate classes and is loving it. She is learning so much and looks forward to going every week. The teachers are so attentive and patient with the Tots! #ScottsTots
My son has begged to play hockey for the last five or six years. I finally caved four weeks ago and enrolled him in learn to skate classes at the Scott Hamilton Skating Academy, even though we live far outside the Nashville area.
I can't say enough about how great everyone at the academy has been. From letting us enter a class that was already in progress, so my son could skate right away, to the coaches who have been so encouraging to him, to Scott Hamilton himself who is always a presence on the ice (even for new learners).
Everyone has really encouraged my son in his skating and he has progressed so quickly that he's starting hockey programming (PREDecessor) next week. But I will continue him in Academy lessons as long as possible as well.
Thank you to the whole staff for a great experience!
