TBL@NYR: Shesterkin pots Rangers' first ever goalie goal

If you can score here, you can score anywhere.

New York Rangers goalie Igor Shesterkin lit up Madison Square Garden on Thursday with the first-ever goalie goal in team history. The score also lit up social media.

Shesterkin has come close to scoring before, but it wasn't until his goal capped a 5-1 victory against the Tampa Bay Lightning that he finally found the twine.

The Rangers immediately took to social media to congratulate their goalie.

Former Rangers goalie and current MSG analyst Henrik Lundqvist made a joke on air about the Rangers needing more scoring before congratulating Shesterkin.

Rangers announcer Kenny Albert shared his historic game scorecard on social media.

Shesterkin joked he hasn't scored a goal in a game since he was in juniors.

Here is your reminder that the 2026-27 NHL season is just three days old.

What are we in store for next? Well, first a lot more replays and alternate angles of the Shesterkin feat.

The Rangers return to the ice Friday in Detroit against the Red Wings.
