CBJ Blue Jackets Cleveland Monsters 1124

The Cleveland Monsters are red hot.
At one point earlier in the season, the defending Calder Cup champions sat near the bottom of the Central Division and were struggling to find their way. It appears they are putting those days behind them, and have used an active eight-game points streak to climb the ladder and get back in the playoff picture.
The Monsters beat Charlotte in their last game before the Christmas break, a 3-2 final at Quicken Loans Arena, to put a stamp on a solid week that saw them win three straight games and bump their record well over the .500 mark.

Cleveland sits at 15-11-1-2 entering Wednesday's game against Grand Rapids. The Monsters got even strength goals from Sonny Milano and Justin Scott (two) and held on down the stretch against Charlotete, backstopped by Anton Forsberg's 19 saves. Forsberg is 10-6-1 on the season.
Other notes:
- Monsters defenseman John Ramage was named the CCM/AHL player of the week on Tuesday. Ramage tallied four points and a +4 rating in two appearances for Cleveland last week as the Monsters improved to 7-0-0-1 in their last eight games. Ramage recorded the first three-point game of his career on Tuesday night in a win over Charlotte.
- Oliver Bjorkstrand, who traveled to western Canada with the Blue Jackets prior to Christmas but did not play, was returned to Cleveland once the team got back to Columbus.
- The Monsters signed NHL veteran Mike Brown to a 25-game professional tryout agreement last week. Brown, if you'll recall, was in Blue Jackets training camp on a PTO as well but was released before the final roster was submitted. Brown is in a similar position to Marc-Andre Bergeron, who was also part of Blue Jackets camp and is now on a PTO with Cleveland; both players had long NHL careers and are attempting to give it another shot.
- Aaron Palushaj, another Blue Jackets camp PTO who signed with Cleveland, announced Tuesday that he's leaving the Monsters. Palushaj signed a contract with Dynamo Minsk in the KHL, a club that is currently participating in the Spengler Cup.
