Playing in the second half of a back-to-back, the Bolts came out slow, trailing 2-0 after 20 minutes. The Lightning found their game in the second period, eventually battling back to level the score at three, but Connor McDavid scored the early in the third to put Edmonton in front for good.
It's Tampa Bay's first loss on the road trip after beginning with victories in St. Louis, Seattle and Vancouver.
The Lightning now head to Calgary for a Saturday afternoon tilt against the Flames in the road trip finale.

The Bolts paid the price for sending the Oilers to the power play late in the first. With the puck pinned along the wall, Leon Draisatl went unmarked on the near side of the ice. Eventually the Oilers managed to work the puck free and tee up Draisaitl for a one-timer.

Moments after Alex Killorn hit the post from point-blank range, the rebound popped free for Brandon Hagel in front of the net. Hagel managed to slip the puck underneath a sprawled Jack Campbell to get Tampa Bay on the board.

The Lightning's deficit remained at one for less than two minutes before Zach Hyman put the Oilers up 3-1. Hyman chipped a feed from Warren Foegele wide of Vasilevskiy, but the puck caromed back to him off the end boards and he buried the second chance from a sharp angle.

Brayden Point cut through the middle of the ice and dished to Steven Stamkos at the left circle. Stamkos one-timed the feed past Campbell to make it a one-goal game again.

Tampa Bay battled back to tie it up at 12:03 of the second period. The play began with an Edmonton turnover in the neutral zone and ended with Point cutting to the net to redirect a Victor Hedman feed upstairs on Campbell.

Connor McDavid's goal early in the third period would go on to stand as the game-winner. McDavid cut wide on Ian Cole, drove to the front of the net and jammed the puck past Vasilevskiy.

Jon Cooper opted for an early pull of Vasilevskiy, but Hyman scored his second of the night into the empty net to extend Edmonton's lead to two.
