The Vegas Golden Knights (8-3-0) fell to the Tampa Bay Lightning (7-2-0) 6-2 on Tuesday night at T-Mobile Arena.

HOW IT WENT DOWN
Brandon Hagel opened the scoring with a power-play goal four minutes into the opening frame to give the Lightning an early 1-0 edge. Ivan Barbashev netted his first goal of the season to draw Vegas even with 6:44 remaining in the period. Barbashev buried the rebound following a shot from Mitch Marner who picked the puck off Tampa Bay’s Charle-Edouard D’Astous. John Carlson put the Lightning back in front just 48 seconds later. With 1:30 remaining in the first period, Mark Stone tallied his second shorthanded goal of the season to even the score at two heading into the second period. Andrei Vasilevskiy attempted to throw the puck around the boards, but Braeden Bowman intercepted and sent it to a wide-open Stone who picked his spot and fired it past Vasilevskiy. Two goals from Anthony Cirelli 3:25 apart put Tampa Bay up two midway through the second period, and Victor Hedman tacked a third goal on with two minutes left to make the score 5-2. Nikita Kucherov scored the Lightning’s sixth goal five minutes into the third period, sealing the 6-2 victory for Tampa Bay.
