The Vegas Golden Knights (8-4-0) were defeated 6-2 by the St. Louis Blues (5-4-1) on Thursday night at Enterprise Center.
HOW IT WENT DOWN
The Blues opened the scoring halfway through the first period off a rebound shot from Pavel Buchnevich. St. Louis doubled their lead with less than six minutes left in the period when Justin Barron picked up a loose puck from the right side.
In the middle frame, Brett Howden buried his fifth goal of the season off a rebound to cut the Blues lead in half, as Noah Hanifin and Alexander Holtz provided the assists. St. Louis responded quickly, though, with Mason McTavish scoring less than three minutes later to restore their two-goal lead.
Five minutes into the final frame, Ivan Barbashev and Brayden McNabb provided Jack Eichel an assist, as he raced down to the opposition end to pass the puck through the crease, resulting in a banked-in goal off the skate of a Blues defender. Five minutes later, the Blues once again doubled their lead, 4-2, with a goal from Jimmy Snuggerud, then finished their scoring with two goals from Dylan Holloway for a 6-2 final.
