Doug Plagens
Doug Plagens enters his 10th season as the radio play-by-play broadcaster for the Florida Panthers. Plagens has over 1,200 games of professional hockey broadcasting experience at the NHL, AHL, and ECHL levels.
Along with being the radio voice of the Panthers, Plagens can be heard co-hosting the club's official podcast "Territory Talk" with Jameson Olive.
Prior to joining the Panthers before the 15-16 season, Plagens spent four years in Cleveland as the radio and television play-by-play voice of the AHL's Lake Erie Monsters and the Arena Football League's Cleveland Gladiators. During his time in Cleveland, Plagens served on the SiriusXM NHL Network Radio broadcast of the 2015 AHL All-Star Game in Utica, New York.
Previously, Plagens spent time as the radio and television play-by-play voice of the ECHL's Idaho Steelheads in Boise, Idaho. With the Steelheads, he was recognized as the ECHL's "Broadcaster of the Year" for the 2009-10 season, and was selected as part of the national television broadcast of the 2010 ECHL All-Star Game in Ontario, California. While in Idaho, Plagens also hosted a nightly sports talk radio show on Boise's ESPN Radio affiliate, KTIK 1350 "The Ticket", and freelanced as a sports anchor/reporter/producer at KBOI-TV (CBS).
Plagens' broadcasting experience also includes time as a television sports anchor and reporter at WKBN (CBS), WYFX (FOX), and WYTV (ABC) in Youngstown, Ohio.
Plagens holds a Master's Degree in Broadcast Journalism from Syracuse University, and a Bachelor's in Communication from Lake Forest College (IL).
He currently resides in Sunrise, Florida.
